Percussionist, Arranger and Composer
One of the most recognized percussion player in Latin America, He organizes the International Marimba Festivals in Chiapas. His repertoire encompasses the genres of contemporary music, traditional Marimba, Latin American, symphonic and jazz music, which include many of his arrangements and compositions. Constantly offering concerts and master classes as Soloist and with his projects Na'rimbo and Paax Percussion, in Mexico, some Universities and festivals in North America, and many countries in Europe, Asia. He had played and shares the stage with musicians as Keiko Abe, David Friedman, Paquito de Rivera, Dave Samuels, Ney Rosauro, Anders Astrand, Victor Mendoza, among others.
Israel Moreno was graduated on percussions with honors in National school of Music at UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico) where he won the First Place as the best performer in 1994; Later he studied the Master degree on Marimba in Amsterdam Conservatory in Holland, and his PHD in Kunst Universität Graz in Austria. Israel Moreno is full time Professor in the University of Science and Arts of Chiapas, Mexico, and he published articles in PAS magazine and others in Mexico as well as he wrote in collaboration with Javier Nandayapa the first Method for Mexican Marimba. In 1997 was the President of the Second International Week of Percussion, in Mexico City (the biggest percussion Festival on 90´s). He was organizer and jury on the National Marimba Contest of Mexico, since 1999 and creates the Latin-American Marimba Competition in 2011, having until now three editions. He is the biggest promoter of Mexican marimba from Chiapas to abroad.
Currently he is conductor of the “Na´rimbo” Ensemble, had played in the Lincoln Center, in New York; kenedy Center and National Mall in Washington DC, in Duke Ellington Jazz festival with Paquito de Rivera; as well as concerts in South-Africa, Mali, Korea, Taiwan, China, some countries in Europe and Festivals in USA and Central America. With Na’rimbo he recorded 4 CD’s with his arrangements, getting success and good expectations from the critics in Mexico
Israel Moreno is Yamaha Artist since 2012 and currently he has a grant from Culture council with a Vibraphone project performing Latin-American music.
