Foo Pui Yee (HK)

Adams artist (Fiona) FOO Pui-yee is a versatile marimba-percussion soloist, recitalist and chamber musician.  Her solo marimba performances are hailed as “excellent coordination with many contemporary techniques superbly demonstrated”, “very expressive and demonstrating a unique and beautiful style of playing”, “full of character and style; accurate in every way”. Her sensational performance with impeccable techniques and splendid movements always succeed to give a pleasant surprise to the audience. Fiona has won in various solo marimba and concerto competitions in Europe and Asia and also the “YAMAHA Europe Music Foundation Award”. She had live performances on various TV shows and radio broadcasts. She was also invited to perform as a soloist for concertos with various orchestras under the baton of world-renowned conductors such as Takuo Yuasa, François Xavier Roth and Alexander Shelly etc.

Fiona graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music (Honours) with Alan Cumberland (Timpani), Lung Heung Wing (Western percussion) and Yim Hok Man (Chinese percussion). She went on to obtain her Master’s Degree in Music as well as MaNaMa (master after master in performance), with specialisation in Solo Marimba, and Master’s Degree in Chamber Music in Leuven University College of Arts (LUCA School of Arts, Hogeschool voor Wetenschap & Kunst Lemmensinstituut) in Belgium, under the guidance of marimba virtuoso Ludwig Albert. Her other qualifications include from Trinity College London, Recital Diploma (Associate, ATCL) in Performance in Solo Piano and Percussion; Recital Diploma (Licentiate, LTCL) in Percussion with Distinction; and Recital Diploma in Performance with the highest level of Fellowship (FTCL).

Fiona is a prolific musician and performed extensively across the continents including Austria, Belgium, China (Mainland), Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Turkey, United Kingdom and United States.

World class producer of concert percussion and custom brassinstruments, Adams Musical Instruments, endorses Fiona as their solo artist. She is also the Artistic Director of the International Hong Kong Percussion Convention - festival and competition.
